Commonly called creeping fig, Ficus pumila is a vigorous, woody evergreen, climbing vine that will cover walls, trellises, posts, etc. by using adhesive aerial rootlets. It can grow 15-20’ tall if climbing. It also makes a dense, fast-growing groundcover. Ficus pumila comes in green and variegated and is also excellent for hanging baskets and topiaries. An easy and fast grower, this makes an excellent addition to groundcover or hanging basket program as well as a desirable landscape plant in zones 9-10, or in protected areas in zone 8.
