Sarracenia, or Pitcher Plant, is a carnivorous plant that performs best in bright light and and is kept consistently moist, low-mineral media. Exotic blooms and brilliant colors like reds, pinks, whites and greens make them striking focal points wherever they are grown. They are well suited to bog planters and outdoor seasonal programs in appropriate climates, and it can be produced for educational and collector assortments. Avoid standard fertilization and hard water, which reduce plant quality; rainwater, reverse osmosis or distilled water are best.
