Offshore Purchasing Job Description

Qualities to look for when hiring:

  • Excellent Negotiation skills
    • Must be aggressive with vendors regarding pricing while maintaining a close working relationship with them.
  • Detail Oriented
    • Job requires an ability to enter and maintain a large amount of data. Skill in keyboarding is essential.  Knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook is a plus.
  • Multi Tasking  and Priority setting
    • Candidate must be able to, in conjunction with supervisor, set priorities based on diverse demands on time from other departments and be able to switch from one task to another as needed.
  • Follow up.
    • Candidate must be able to keep track of items requiring follow up, deliver answers when promised and if necessary, notify respondents of any delays.
  • Excellent Communication
    • The ability to communicate in English and Spanish clearly and correctly, both in writing and verbally, is essential for success in this position.  
  • Assertiveness/Confident
    • Due to our fast paced and high demand working environment, this position requires a high degree of self esteem and confidence to deal with the stress inherent in such environments.

Experience:

  • University Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of plants a plus but not a requirement
  • Previous experience in sales or purchasing a plus but not a requirement

 Travel:
            This position will require some travel both within Guatemala and the United States. 

Salary Salary and commission commensurate with experience, and include group health and 401k benefits.
