Purchasing Assistant

Job Description and Duties:

  1. Processing purchase orders as necessary.
  2. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests
  3. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  4. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
  5. Confirmation entry.
  6. Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  7. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  8. Pre-book future orders with Farms.
  9. Advise farms of all quality problems as necessary.
  10. New Product set up in system.
  11. Monitor availabilities and projections from farms.

Requirements:
1.            Education: College Degree  a plus, preferably with a Horticulture background
2.            Knowledge and Experience:      
(a)          3-5 years experience in the purchasing of perishables.
(b)          Fluent in English and Spanish; fluency in other languages a strong plus.

Salary Salary and commission commensurate with experience, and include group health and 401k benefits.
